How do you Spot an 82 Berlinetta ??? Well the 82 Berlinetta was introduced much the same as the Second Generation Berlinettas,...... by installing as much "optional" equipment as possible,..... as Standard equipment ! The newly styled third generation Camaro Berlinetta came with a fully carpeted interior, full gauge package, a locking storage cover, and extra noise protection under the interior panels. Unlike the Sports Coupe, all Berlinetta cars received a FULL Instrument Gauge Cluster. It also has the 'softest' ride of any Third GenerationCamaro and that remained true thru it's 5 years of production. From the out-side; the Berlinetta was easily distinguished from the 'every day' Camaro by it's 14 inch turbo fined Aluminum Wheels, Clear lens front parking lights, and Gold pin stripping that included 2 raised gold bars across the Tail Lights. The Berlinetta was not available with a 4-cylider engine and only the V6 Berlinetta was equipped with a Standard Transmission. The 1982 V8 Berlinetta was the only Berlinetta ever equipped with the 3 speed Automatic Transmission.
A word on Badges..... The 1982 has a "berlinetta" badge on the passenger side of the dash. All the exterior emblems use a lower case "b" in the scrpit. The nose header emblem carries a GOLD Bow Tie ( as do all the Berlinetta cars) and the front and rear bumper emblems are plastic. The rear bumper emblem has a Chevy Bow Tie next to it. The 'berlinetta' sail panel emblems and 'CAMARO' fender emblems are made of metal and gold accented. The 82-84 Berlinetta center caps have a gold circle around the cap and "berlinetta" script.
