How do you Spot an 83 Berlinetta ??? Well the 83 Berlinetta was styled EXACTLY like the 82 was. There were no significant changes from the 82-83 model years and it's very hard to tell the difference from an 82-or 83 from inside or out. The real difference in the Berlinetta from 82 to 23 was in the engine and drive trains that were available. The Only 2 engine installed in the Berlinetta were again the V6 or V8 carb motors..... but 83 was the ONLY year you could purchase a V8 Berlinetta with a Standard Transmission. The 83 was also the first year Chevy made the 4 speed automatic tranny available in the Camaro.
A word on badges..... The 1983 Has a "berlinetta" badge on the passenger side of the dash. All the exterior emblems still use a lower case "b" in the signature. The nose header emblem carries a GOLD Bow Tie ( as do all the Berlinetta cars) and the front and rear bumper emblems are plastic. The rear bumper emblem has a Chevy Bow Tie next to it. The sail panel emblems and CAMARO fender emblems are made of metal and gold colored.
