How do you Spot an 84 Berlinetta ??? Just look inside !!!! In 1984 Chevrolet introduced the Digital Camaro Berlinetta..... a car that was being planned for production in early 1982. The aerospace cockpit design was as awe inspiring as it is comfortable to drive. The idea behind the re-styled dash housing was so that almost every major control system in the car was within reach of the steering wheel. ( Excluding the radio ! ) The Berlinetta electronics were WAY ahead of their time and incorporated some of the freshest ideas in the industry into the Camaro line-up. Features like high beam "Flash-to-Pass", "Time Delay" courtesy lights, "Auto-Kill" headlights, and "Volume Reduction" stereos were just a few of the significant enhancements to the regular camaro set-up.
In 1984 The Camaro Berlinetta - like all Camaros - used new interior fabric patterns. The optional "custom cloth interior (commonly referred to as the "Zebra Strip" pattern) was available in 5 colors and used for just 1 year. This interior style was available as optional equipment in all other Camaros - but was standard equipment in the Berlinetta. Also added to the "digital" interior was a new Roof Console that cold be mounted in hard top or t-top cars.
On the out-side there was very little that was different in 84 from the 82 & 83 cars. The most noticeable change was that the tail lights now used a single raised GOLD separator bar, unlike the 2 bar style in 82 & 83.
A word on badges..... In 1984 the Berlinetta lost it's dash badge and a "CAMARO" logo was embossed in the dash housing in it's place. All the exterior emblems still use a lower case "b" in the signature. The nose header emblem carries a GOLD Bow Tie ( as do all the Berlinetta cars) and the front and rear bumper emblems are plastic. The rear bumper emblem has a Chevy Bow Tie next to it. The sail panel emblems and CAMARO fender emblems are made of metal and gold colored.
