Back Ground
I bought this car in the early spring of 11' with a RUINED interior, pretty good
body and great drive-train. The price was "right" as it had a 312ci ( 305
border .30 over )a good T5 Tranny, a 90-92 POSI DISK Rear End with 3.73's, and
many new engine parts ( Carb, Distrib, Alt, ect... ). The T-Top Seals were
hacked off and as a result the entire interior was ruined over time. The
cars electrical system was a total basket case and just about none of the
electrical systems worked. The drivers door didn't open and the hatch was
locked with no key. After putting a couple months into getting car back
into shape ( new weather stripping, re-built T-Tops, reinstalled heating
system, reinstalled wiper system, Converted interior from Red to Black, ect... )
the engine "hydro-locked" due to a 1/2 assed installation of the "functional"
ram Air. The Cam-shaft snapped, &a couple pistons got bent,..... So; I
pulled the blown motor & rebuilt a 1987 TPI engine to take it's place. The
hole that was cut into the hood for the air cleaner to pop thru was fiberglassed
over to ensure it was sealed and a drop base air cleaner was installed to allow
for clearance. Along the way the engine bay was restored, The Tranny was
partially rebuilt, a new clutch disk/ TO Bearing, hydraulics were used, and the
missing Shifter "cup" was replaced. This was 1 REALLY fun car to drive - I
only wish that I had owned it longer....... It quickly sold that summer.
Here are a few pictures taken to show / remember what horrors that I had to overcome ! ( click for full sized. )
